It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

The fact that the legend of the Legendary Super Saiyan was said to only produce a warrior once every 1,000 years, non-canonically speaking, Super Saiyan 4 couldn't be it as Vegeta attained the form as well. You could argue he did so artificially, but, the fact is, the legend specifically states every 1,000 years. The only person to hold a unique form that nobody else shares or even can compare to, is Broly. Physically speaking, Super Saiyan 4 is different from the other forms, but, so is Broly's LSSj. But SSj4 shares many of the same attributes as the previous Super Saiyan forms. Whereas Broly's form almost shares none other than the fact that, like all transformations, it increases his power to some capacity. |

I think the Super Saiyan legend refers to the initial Super Saiyan transformation. Legendary Super Saiyan might have been a mutated state of USS or SS2 (Considering Broly's consistent, psychotic rage, it's not far-fetched). Whatever the case may be, SS1/CO is likely the most commonly used form the Original Super Saiyan used. All legends do get it wrong sometimes, though. As for SS4, it could be that an ancestor of the Saiyan race achieved this form long before the series started. Old Kai is supposedly about 75,000,000 years old or something, and he knew about SS4 despite having been locked in the Z-Sword for millions of years. Ps: By CO, I mean Chō Ōzaru. |

In the anime we see the images of "The Legendary Super Saiyan" self destructing in explosive power. From what I can tell that's due to he's immense power and is filler so it's moot. Reading the topic I'm siding with Wintergreen5000's comment about it being any saiyan that reaches the level of Super Saiyan. Though I do wonder if SSj2 and SSJ3 were known of before Gohan and Goku reached the levels respectively. |

I think it's like this: The "legendary" in the Super Saiyan Vegeta mentioned was just an adjective. Like: "He's legendary". But the "legendary" in "Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan" is kinda a noun with the "Super Saiyan" part. So Broly isn't "legendary", but he's the "Legendary Super Saiyan". |

To me the legendary SSJ is born that way. In the brolyverse it was obvious that becoming an SSJ meant nothing. and that being the lSSJ meant everything. So i would say that being the LSSj broly style is more important. Cause when you are literally born the king of super saiyans? you've got it made. But canon wise goku IS the LSSJ. no ifs ands or buts. |
